Student Spotlight: Laura “Sippy” Patterson

This Student Spotlight highlights the achievements of Icon Online grad and Australian bass music producer Laura “Sippy” Patterson.

Sippy

We are proud of our students and their accomplishments. Each month, we connect with Icon Collective students and alumni who have taken programs in Los Angeles or Online to showcase their hard work and success. Their achievements offer a glimpse into what’s possible after pursuing music education at the Collective.

About Sippy

Meet Sippy, a Sydney-based bass music machine, intellectual, and polymath. Anyone that’s spent time on the Australian Bass Music circuit knows the name. Moreover, Sippy built her career blasting her signature gut-rattling seizure-inducing music through the sound systems of her country’s famous clubs and festivals.

After graduating from the Collective’s extensive Online Program, Sippy has stayed busy cranking out her signature bass stormers and has continued a path in music education as an owner, proprietor, and instructor of three DJ and production schools across Australia.

Sippy exempliKies a new kind of Bass Music phenom. She began playing piano seriously at 8, drums at 14, and taught herself guitar at 15. By the time she graduated from high school, she was composing music for 25 piece ensembles. After earning a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Australia’s most prestigious University, she became a certiKied personal trainer. She currently plays Premier League Touch Football.

Music pulled Sippy the hardest, despite her hyper-potential personality and diverse upbringing. The only way to describe her recent rise through the ranks is meteoric. She’s locked down collaborations with Bear Grillz and Doctor Werewolf. She also has an insane remix of Slumberjack’s track “Ra” that every DJ needs in their set list. Additionally, Sippy actively supports the likes of Excision, Kayzo, Protohype, Dack Janiels, Bear Grillz, and many others.

Sippy prides herself on bringing much-needed courage and realism to the scene. As a result, her name is synonymous with a fearlessly Kilthy, heavy, extremely creative, and a precise bass-forward sound. She counts the world’s biggest Bass and EDM producers among her most avid and vocal supporters including Doctor Werewolf, Datsik, and Bear Grillz. With a massive EP on the way, her place among the world’s elite neck-breakers is all but certain.

When Sippy is not touring around Australia and NZ, she is working in business development for a project called “Hack Sounds” which focuses on teaching music production to people with disabilities.

Hack Sounds is an entry point into the world of electronic music production. The program teaches you how to make music using accessible and fun-to-use tools. Furthermore, it teaches you how to hone your performance skills, develop collaborations, and offers many other musical opportunities. This inclusive community music program also offers a series of workshops, open community sessions, career development pathways, and more.
