Lift Black Voices
We are excited to partner with Beatport, DistroKid, and Beatsource to bring this opportunity to aspiring artists!
ICON believes the strength of our Collective is directly connected to the diversity of its members. We also recognize the seeds of modern music stem from the minds of American Black Culture. It’s essential to celebrate and honor this lineage while ensuring the student body is better balanced and represented.
With this in mind, we’re proud to announce ICON’s Annual Black Voices Scholarship. This scholarship fund extends our gratitude in helping Black creatives manifest their creative vision through music’s power. This opportunity also enables Black artists to give the world something desperately needed: their voices!
ICON will award scholarships to the Vocal Artist, Music Production, and Music Business Programs. One chosen recipient per program will receive a $19,500 scholarship. They will then embark on a year-long intensive study to develop their skills and hone their craft at our campus in Burbank, California. Learn more about our programs here.
We hope by extending avenues for Black creatives to join our Collective, we can contribute to a positive shift in the antiquated status quo.
What’s Included
1. A scholarship to Icon Collective’s 12-month program in Los Angeles, covering $19,500 of Icon’s $25,995 tuition.
The awarded sum is one-quarter short of a full scholarship. This was intentional. Shouldering some of the tuition cost is part of the personal responsibility needed to succeed in the program and as a thriving artist thereafter.
2. A $1000 Gear Grant and Perk Package for required materials from DistroKid, including:
- A year-long Musician Plan subscription
- One on one with a DistroKid expert on the distribution process
- A DistroKid merch package.
To celebrate the Black Voices Scholarship, Distrokid is also giving 50% off the first year membership for anyone. Sign up here to see your discounts.
3. A six-month subscription to Beatport or Beatsource DJ Record Pool and an Ableton Live 10 License.
