Growing up around dance music giants such as Steve Aoki, and DJ AM, Wenzday was introduced to the art of crowd control at a young age.
Not many people can say their dad threw parties at the Playboy mansion, but that was where Icon Collective graduate Wenzday first witnessed some of electronic music’s finest heat up the dance floor. Throughout her childhood Wenzday trained to become a professional vocalist, but when she got to college her dream was brought to a halt when she was diagnosed with vocal nodes.
Determined to continue her career as an artist, even on a two year vocal rest from her diagnosis, Wenzday dove into a new passion: DJing. Consistent gigs, and energetic shows filled her calendar but as time went on, Wenzday decided she wanted to produce her own music. That’s when she found Icon Collective.
Wenzday graduated from Icon’s Flagship Music Production Program in 2013 and has since gone on to launch her label 40oz Cult with her brother and fellow alum Dack Janiels, play at Lollapalooza, and release on esteemed label Mau5trap.
Watch our exclusive interview with Wenzday where she discusses forging her own creative path, and honing her identity as an artist. Enjoy!
